Le Lana
Le Lana is a family-owned five-star hotel in Courchevel 1850, opened in 1958 with twenty rooms by Jo Claret-Tournier, the Chamonix-born pioneer who arrived in the resort in 1948, and his wife Catherine. Their younger son Nicolas has run it since 1993. It was the first four-star hotel in Courchevel and sits directly on the slopes.
Le Lana began in 1958 with twenty rooms, at a time when Courchevel was still proving itself. Jo and Catherine Tournier enlarged it year after year and made it the resort's first four-star hotel.
Nicolas Tournier took over in 1993; his elder brother Eric runs the family's other houses under Maison Tournier.
It sits directly on the slopes, so guests leave and return on skis. It is a bigger, more classic luxury hotel than the small houses in this guide, but part of the same independent story.
